Getting Around Vancouver
Traveling from the Airport to Downtown
Public Transit (train): The SkyTrain connects the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Downtown. You can board trains from both the domestic and international terminals at the airport. Check the Canada Line website for the latest information regarding ticket prices and train schedules.
To use transit (i.e., bus and / or train) in Vancouver, you will need to buy either a single-use Compass ticket or a reusable Compass card. Both types of tickets can be purchased at a SkyTrain station kiosk.
Taxi: Vancouver’s taxis use both flat rate and metered fares. If you start your journey at the airport, you will pay a fixed fee (see YVR Taxi Zone Map). However, taxis typically use metered fares, including return trips to the airport. Please note: Vancouver does not have Uber services.
Traveling from Downtown to UBC
Public Transit (bus): The more frequent bus lines leaving from Downtown to UBC are the #4, 14, 44, and N17 (see the map of bus lines PDF). The official Vancouver Trip Planning tool can also be used to plan bus travel to / from UBC.
Taxi: A taxi will generally cost between $20 and $30 each way. Please note: Vancouver does not have Uber services.
