Call for bids to host CHIIR 2016 and 2017

The ACM SIGIR Conference on Human Information Interaction and Retrieval (CHIIR) (pronounced “cheer”) provides a forum for the dissemination and discussion of research on the user-centered aspects of information interaction and information retrieval. The conference focuses on elements such as human involvement in search activities, and information seeking and use in context. CHIIR is a merger of two successful events: the Information Interaction in Context conference (IIiX) and the Human Computer Information Retrieval symposium (HCIR). CHIIR builds upon the combined strengths of these events, emphasizing human interaction with information, information seeking contexts, and user-centered approaches to information retrieval, access, and use. CHIIR also publishes related research on human-human information interaction, novel interaction paradigms, and new evaluation methodologies. Research on information interaction and retrieval that draws upon work in areas such as sociology, ethnography, psychology, and human-computer interaction is also welcome at CHIIR.

We are soliciting bids to host CHIIR in 2016 or 2017. CHIIR is an annual event held in March. It will alternate, at least initially, between North America and Europe. For this round, we welcome bids from any location in North America or Europe for CHIIR 2016 as well as CHIIR 2017. Optional “expressions of interest” should be submitted by September 15, 2014. The deadline for submitting formal bids is October 31, 2014. Please see the full call for more details.
