SIGIR 2018 will be held in Ann Arbor, MI. The venue of the conference is the Michigan League, which is on the University of Michigan Central Campus. We have reserved room blocks at special rates at multiple hotels in the area. There are two main hotel areas: Downtown Ann Arbor (walking distance) and Briarwood (6 km/4 mi). Downtown accommodation is closer, with higher room prices. Briarwood accommodation is farther away but has high-quality hotels at lower prices, and will have a regularly scheduled shuttle service direct to Central Campus throughout the conference. With students in mind, we also have a large block of low-cost residence rooms reserved in North Quad, right next to the conference venue.
Accommodations for the SIGIR Conference participants are available at these facilities listed below. Please contact the facility of your choice to make a reservation. To receive the special hotel rates quoted below, use the online link and/or group code provided. Rates are guaranteed up to approximately one month, unless noted below prior to start of conference, or until the room block is full. The North Quadrangle residence hall is located one block northwest of the diag on the UM campus, and is right next to Ingalls Mall, which contains Hill Auditorium, Rackham Building, and the Michigan League. North Quad is the University of Michigan’s first new residence hall built since 1967. North Quad opened in fall of 2010, with a combination of residence hall rooms and academic classroom space. The building has approximately 450 bed spaces. Private Single and Double Suites are common room types at North Quad. A Single includes a twin bed with hallway access to semi-private bath facilities (shared with 3 other rooms), and are fully air-conditioned. Double Suite has 4 beds and in-room bath facilities and are fully air-conditioned. North Quad is located on the corner of S. State St., Huron St. and E. Washington St. There are entrances to North Quad on both S. State and E. Washington St. and there are directions to help you get to the residential tower and Community Center.

Briarwood
Note that there will be a direct shuttle service provided running regularly between the Briarwood conference hotels (only those reserved for attendees) and the location of the conference venue on Central Campus.
Shuttle details
In addition to the locally-available options for getting around, SIGIR 2018 will have a free shuttle bus running for attendees staying in the Briarwood Circle area (Kensington, Holiday Inn Express & Hilton Garden Inn) and the Boardwalk Drive area (Courtyard, Fairfield Inn, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn and Suites, and the Sheraton).
You can track the bus live on your iOS or Android device with the DoubleMap app, available from the App Store or Google Play Store—search for “University of Michigan Magic Bus” and check the SIGIR bus routes.
The shuttle will run approximately every 20–30 minutes from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM, and approximately every 30–40 minutes until 10:30 PM. After 5 PM, the shuttle will stop at the corner of William and Main Streets in downtown Ann Arbor. The buses will continue to loop from the MI League, to Main St., to the hotel areas until the last pick up on Main St. at 1030 pm going back to the hotel areas.
