Airport Information

There are four major airports within 75 miles of the university.
Newark International Airport (Code EWR) is the closest airport to Rutgers University (25.7 miles from Rutgers University–New Brunswick), about a 40-minute train or car ride to New Brunswick, NJ.
John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) is approximately 50 miles from Rutgers–New Brunswick. Due to JFK’s location, you can expect to travel through high traffic areas. Uber and Taxi services are available from JFK in addition to GO Airport Shuttle and other airport pick-up services. You can also use rail services from JFK to New York Penn Station (see below).
Laguardia Airport (LGA) is approximately 50 miles from Rutgers—New Brunswick. Due to LGA’s location, you can expect to travel through high traffic areas. Uber and Taxi services are available from LGA in addition to GO Airport Shuttle and other airport pick-up services. Philadelphia International Airport (code PHL) is about 1¼ hours by car from Rutgers, but there is no direct train route to New Brunswick.

Train Information

From NYC (Penn Station Train station)

If coming from New York City, take the NJ Transit Northeast Corridor Line train towards TRENTON (New York Penn entrance at 34th and 8th Streets) and exit at the New Brunswick station.
Please note: Not all Northeast Corridor Lines will make a stop in New Brunswick. There are signs that indicate what stops the train will be making on each platform. Be sure to get on a train that will stop in New Brunswick.

From Newark Liberty International Airport
  1. There are three terminals at Newark airport: Terminals A, B, and C.
  2. From all three terminals there is an airport shuttle station on the concourse level called the AirTrain which provides easy transportation around the airport 24 hours a day and connects the three terminals to the NJ Transit train station and airport parking.
  3. Once you land, follow signs to "Ground Transportation" and "AirTrain." Be sure to pick up your luggage from the baggage claim before heading towards the AirTrain.
  4. Terminal A – AirTrain stop is located on the concourse level between Gates A2 and A3. Terminal B – AirTrain stop is located on the concourse level between Gates B2 and B3. Terminal C – AirTrain stop is located on the concourse level between Gates C2 and C3.
  5. Once at the AirTrain platform you’ll have two directions to choose from. Be sure you get on the AirTrain headed towards the NJ Transit train station (may also be called Newark Liberty Airport Station).
  6. Once at the train station, you will need to purchase a train ticket to NEW BRUNSWICK. The cost of a one-way ticket from the Newark airport to New Brunswick is $15.25. The train line between the Newark airport station and the New Brunswick station is called the NJ Transit Northeast Corridor Line. Take the Northeast Corridor Line SOUTH towards TRENTON.

Train station to conference location

Once you reach New Brunswick Train Station, you can order a taxi to your hotel, or take the EE campus bus (free of charge) directly to your hotel or Conference venues.
Bus Directions: When you exit the train, turn right and walk to the end of the ramp and down the stairs, to the corner of Somerset and George Streets. The campus bus stop is on the same side of the street as the stairs. Take only the EE bus! Get down at Paterson Street stop. Continue on George Street for two blocks, to Livingston Avenue. You will see a fountain at the intersection of George and Livingston, and The Heldrich is on the corner.
Walking: The Heldrich Hotel is located within easy walking distance of the New Brunswick Train Station. From the George Street exit of the train platform, walk toward downtown New Brunswick, along George Street. Continue on George Street for five blocks, to Livingston Avenue. You will see a fountain at the intersection of George and Livingston, and The Heldrich is on the corner. Bus Information

From Port Authority Bus Terminal Station (42 St), take the 100 towards Princeton- Palmer Square (Gate 417). Get down at New Brunswick - Downtown. Walk down Albany St towards George St. Take a right at the intersection. Continue on George Street for four blocks, to Livingston Avenue. You will see a fountain at the intersection of George and Livingston, and The Heldrich is on the corner.
