The Women in IR group held two meetings at the 38th European Conference on Information Retrieval, 2016 held in Padua, Italy. Graduate student Maria Maistro (University of Padua) and Women in IR co-founder Laura Dietz led the coffee break meeting on March 20, 2016 and the lunch meeting on March 21, 2016. The participants met around an ECIR 2016 totem dedicated to Elena Lucrezia Cornaro Piscopia, the first woman in the world to receive an academic degree at the University of Padua in 1678.
