Sheraton Boston Hotel (conference hotel)
SIGIR has a group rate of $189 per night that is good through June 18th. The simplest way to reserve a room is via the Sheraton's web site for SIGIR. If necessary you can call the hotel at 617-236-2000 and mention that you are part of the SIGIR group.
If booked with the group, the group rate applies. In addition, internet access in your room will be included as part of the price. (The registration page makes that clear, but the room description itself currently indicates that internet will require a fee. It will not, if you are part of the group.)
Northeastern University housing
A number of dorm rooms are available at Northeastern University for housing SIGIR participants. These rooms will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis, though preference will be given to students in the event that there is more demand than supply. Rooms will be available for the nights of July 18 through July 23, inclusive, and any subset of nights in this range may be chosen. Rates are as follows:
- $85 per night for a single room (single occupancy)
- $65 per person per night for a double room (double occupancy)
To reserve a double room, two reservations must be made (one from each occupant), and each registrant must specify the other as their desired roommate. In the absence of matching registrations, double room reservations will be converted to single room reservations, at the corresponding higher cost.
To reserve a room, a deposit corresponding to one night's stay is required. Given the limited number of rooms available, registrants will be notified on or about May 24 as to whether they have secured a room; deposit refunds will be given to those registrants whom we cannot accommodate. UPDATE: As of June 17th, every room requested will be honored. A larger block of rooms was opened, so additional reservations can be comfortably accommodated.
Registrants who secure a room will be required to pay their housing balance in full upon check-in, as well as sign a standard damage waiver as required by the ACM.
Registration for Northeastern University Housing is available through the SIGIR on-line housing registration system.
Other places
Although we urge you to stay in the conference hotel for the sake of convenience, if it fills up if you have compelling reasons to stay elsewhere, there are numerous other hotels in the area of the conference.
