ACM SIGIR 2018<\/b> July 8-12, 2018. \u00a0\u00a0Ann Arbor, Michigan, U.S.A.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n Call for Tutorials<\/span> SIGIR is the major international forum for the presentation of new research results and for the\u00a0<\/span>demonstration of new systems and techniques in the broad field of information access. SIGIR\u00a0<\/span>2018 will take place in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA, and includes a full day of tutorials on July 8,\u00a0<\/span>2018. The cover sheet should include the following elements:<\/span> <\/p>\n
\n<\/b>The 41st International ACM SIGIR Conference on Research and Development in Information Retrieval<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
\n<\/span><\/span>
\n SIGIR 2018 solicits proposals for both half and full-day tutorials covering topics relevant to the\u00a0<\/span>field of information retrieval and its applications. Each tutorial should cover a single topic in\u00a0<\/span>depth. For example, tutorials may cover an established information retrieval sub-topic (e.g.\u00a0<\/span>retrieval quality evaluation), introduce an emerging application of information retrieval\u00a0<\/span>technologies (e.g., mobile user engagement), or update the information retrieval community on\u00a0<\/span>recent advances in related fields (e.g., deep learning and its potential applications to IR). We are\u00a0<\/span>especially interested in the third category of submission.<\/span><\/span>
\n Submission Guidelines
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/span>
\n Submissions should include a cover sheet and an extended abstract.<\/span><\/p>\n
\n 1. Title and length (either half-day, e.g. 3 hours plus breaks, or full day, e.g., 6 hours plus\u00a0<\/span>breaks) of the tutorial.<\/span><\/span>
\n 2. Intended audience (introductory, intermediate, advanced) and prerequisite knowledge or\u00a0<\/span>skills required.<\/span><\/span>
\n 3. Detailed contact information of all presenters (and indication of the main contact person).<\/span>
\n 4. Brief biography (max. 2 paragraphs) for each presenter, highlighting relevant experience\u00a0<\/span>in presenting tutorials, teaching grad classes, organizing summer schools, etc.<\/span><\/span>
\n
\nThe extended abstract (no longer than 4 pages) should include the following sections:<\/span>
\n 1. Motivation.<\/span>
\n 2. Objectives.<\/span>
\n 3. Relevance to the information retrieval community and reference to tutorials in the same\u00a0<\/span>area at SIGIR or related conferences (including WSDM, WWW, KDD, ACL, etc.).<\/span><\/span>
\n 4. Format and detailed schedule.<\/span>
\n 5. Type of support materials to be supplied to attendees.
\n<\/span>
\n Tutorial proposals should be prepared in\u00a0\u00a0the 2017 ACM Master Article Template\u00a0<\/strong>(see here;\u00a0for LaTeX use the\u00a0\u201csigconf\u201d option<\/a><\/span>).
